Remembering My Mother

"Precious memories, unseen angels,
Sent from somewhere to my soul
How they linger, ever near me,
And the sacred past unfold.

Precious father, loving mother,
Fly across the lonely years,
And old home scenes of my childhood,
In fond memory appears."

I miss thee my mother!
Thy image is still
the deepest impressed
on my heart... (~Eliza Cook)

We are witnesses of resurrection every spring;
We shall witness our own when death gives us wings;
Then, we shall be transformed to eternal things.

(~C.S. Craig)

Dearest Mother,
there is a special room in my heart where your love resides, and whenever I need you, I go there. A year has passed but you are as close to me as ever.

I'm thankful for so many precious memories...
for the sound of your laughter that still echoes in my head,
for the dreams of you that come to me in the middle of the night,
for the parenting wisdom you passed along to me,
for the Bible verses you underlined in your Bible which bring me comfort today,
for the way that you loved me,
for teaching me how to cook delicious meals and keep a clean house,
for teaching me that the most important things in life are not things, for the hugs and kisses I remember so fondly before you tucked me into bed,
for your beautiful smile which always caused you to tilt your head in a most charming way.

George Washington was right... "all I am I owe to my mother."
